Sitting quietly in the stands this week at the 4 Nations Para Badminton International 2023 is the one and only Morten Frost.
The Dane is now Performance Director of Badminton England, as well as GB Badminton and also ParabadmintonGB.
He witnessed Para badminton for the first time at Basel 2019 when the BWF Para Badminton World Championships were held in connection with the BWF World Championships
But this is his very first full Para badminton tournament, and he’s absolutely loving it!
“I’m in awe watching the athletes play and their ability to get around the court,” Frost said.
“It’s amazing how agile the athletes are, how well they play, and the technical skills are definitely improving from what I’ve seen.”
Day 2 in Sheffield saw the completion of all group matches. Frost said the standard of sports presentation was a strong endorsement for the game.
“I think it’s a great celebration of sport with people coming together from all around the world and enjoying the game we all love to play which is absolutely fantastic.”
Frost sees the value of integration with able-bodied badminton and is empowered to share his wealth of knowledge with the community, while also learning new things himself.
“We are paying a lot of attention (on the coach development side),” he said.
“I come to Sheffield every month on a regular basis, and I work with the coaches here on how we can improve the understanding of the game, and the game plans.
“Every day is a school day for me, I can assure you. I learn so much every single time I’m here.
“The more we can integrate and get more people playing the game the better.”
