This is Cheah Liek Hou

Ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, Malaysian Para badminton player Cheah Liek Hou has been featured in an episode of the ‘Who I Am’ Paralympic documentary series produced by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and WOWOW.

Although IPC and Japanese TV station WOWOW have been collaborating on this project since 2015, producing documentaries about top Para athletes worldwide, 33-year-old Cheah is the first shuttler to be profiled.

In the episode, Cheah, a men’s singles SU5 frontrunner in Japan, lets the cameras in on his private life as he relates how he picked up a racket on the street at the age of nine and quickly mastered a variety of techniques and playing styles. Cheah’s mother Jap Joe Tjin also appears, sharing her experience of raising him as a specially-abled child.
